Retrieval

Retrieval marks the first album debuting Kavlick’s sound!

Paying heavy homage to stark influences surrounding the band’s members. Notes of industrial torque propelled songs like Foul Fat Child and the latter half of Dingo. Bass is undeniably prominent in such riffs, laying solid groundwork and attitude like thick fog bathing the ankles of some slasher. From the angst-ridden rock of Exhibit, to the jump and jam of Stone. From the dead set drive of Wormcloud, to the side eye drag of Youngin’ Regret. Retrieval showcases a few newer tunes but is primarily compiled of the classic Kavlick that locals have heard over a three year period. They are the songs dredged up and spit shined into audible format, organized into a wave of sonic pleasantries. Hence the affectionate name “Retrieval”.

Over a single weekend in mid July of 2024, the band had cranked out track after track, leading to a 14 song album recorded entirely with FXBG Public Radio in their hometown. The raw recordings had then been sent across state lines to Nashville, Tennessee to none other than Rocco Guarino, known for his work with Stone Temple Pilots and more notably with Velvet Revolver.

The first single “Exhibit” was released two months later on September 14th with stellar feedback. A second single “Spinnin’ Top Motel” was released the following month on October 12th with an equally enthusiastic response. On November 2nd, Kavlick delivered “Retrieval” in its entirety. A healthy response to the compilation has been logged as the band gave birth to their catalog.
